BabyBaby
was composed in 1994 by Greg Shay. Its creation coincided with
the birth of Greg's first son, and slowly grew over the subsequent
births of his two other sons. After searching for a simple,
intelligent, mainstream lullaby Greg found composing one of
his own was the best solution for getting his children to relax
and fall asleep. No master plan, just a simple song that kept
growing out of love.
Until March of 2001, BabyBaby was not much more than a simple
melody with dozens of verses that had accumulated over the years.
It was at this time that Greg met Dan Weingartner at the Berklee
College of Music. A partnership was established, and CL Productions
was created. Dan took the original melody, and developed it
into the fuller, classic sound that is BabyBaby today. The final
piece of the partnership came together when Teresa Rodriguez
was recruited to be BabyBaby's soothing voice. Dan and Teresa
had earlier become acquainted while working together in 1999
on a national tour with the Joe McIntyre Band. BabyBaby was
then recorded over the next 18 months in between Teresa giving
birth to her second child, Dan touring with Britney Spears,
and Greg working at his full time job.
